2. Why did you make a forum when there are sites like FB, etc?

A. This forum was created, because we felt that although social media does have its strengths, where connecting with people are concerned, one area where it is severely lacking, is in privacy.

This is understood to be by design, as the biggest social media sites out there today, make their money by selling user activity and personal information to companies or anyone wealthy enough that's willing to pay for it, resulting in millions of people you never met before, and will likely never meet, having access to your most private thoughts and moments indefinitely.

The benefit of having a forum is in the fact that while still providing many of the pros commonly found with social media, such as connecting with others, and sharing information, etc., is that it is also a lot more private.

People are entitled to privacy, and a forum, is an excellent way to safe guard that privacy, and that is something that we take very seriously here.

In addition to disallowing access to user profiles, and the member list, we also have private areas of the forum for our clients, in which, their content is only seen by employees of Nexus Destinations, and the clients themselves. In this particular area, the client can only see the content they have posted, and the replies to it, but they cannot see anyone else's. We also disallow the posting of any information in that area into the public areas of the forum, and anyone who does this may be banned.

Doing things in this manner, also prevents the search bots from crawling content here and indexing it into their search engines.

Another benefit to having a forum, is that you will probably get your questions answered, directly, and much faster, without much interference or distraction from other people. I don't have a social media account, for a myriad of reasons that I won't get into, but that said, this forum will act as another means of contacting us, should you have a question about a potential booking or trip. And should you forget the answer you got, you can easily check the area it was posted in and see your topic there, rather than having to search your post history on the social media site itself.

We also understand that not everyone is on social media, and this forum is the perfect bridge between those who have it, and those who don't. In the future, registration on this forum may also be done via Facebook or via email. So that, those of you who want to simply login with your FB account can do so, while those who don't can sign up via email.

4. How many domains point to this forum?

A. Currently there are 2 domains that point to this forum.

1. https://nexusdestinations.com/forums

2. http://nxsdstns.com

The first is a link off of our main site, https://nexusdestinations.com and the second is a shorthand link for the forum only.

The reason we have a shorter link is because it is easier to remember and type out compared to the main site and location for the forum.. and having a shorter domain for the forum means easier access as well especially if you are on a mobile device.

5. Why do you have both the Welcome PM and the Welcome topics set up here?

A. I have both the welcome pms and the welcome topics set up here for 2 reasons:

1. The welcome pm shows the same message as the welcome topic. It will have links to the TOS, and FAQs and the new user guide, this way, they will have a copy of those links in their inbox. In case they have a hard time finding them on the forum, they will always have a copy in their inbox.

2. The welcome topic serves the same purpose as the welcome pm, but also gives  other members an opportunity to welcome the new member as well and is a good way of getting to know each other.

6. How do I change the skin?

A. Go to User CP > Edit Options > Look under the section that says "Other Options" > Select a skin from the list underneath "Board Style" and then click "Update Options."

You can also do so from the skin changer at the bottom of the page.

7. Where do you get your skins? Can you give me the css?

A. Currently, all skins & images are made by me. They are for the exclusive use of this forum, and any other forums that I have granted permission to. Any other forums found using our skins, or images, will be reported to the abuse handler of that forums host.

9. What is hotlinking?

In a nutshell, hotlinking is directly linking to an image, video, or other file, found on someone else's web server. For example, if you saw an image that you like and you put the image on your weblog using the image URL source of that other person's site, then you are hotlinking. And, unless the owner of that site permits this, then you are stealing bandwidth, which is unacceptable. Click here for more info.

8. When should I pm an admin/moderator?

A. If, and ONLY If, you are having a problem with another member, or you want to report an abusive post..

To request a username change, or ask a question not covered by his FAQ, then please post here. (<= click.)

Pms about anything other than that may result in a warning and/or the loss of your pm privileges.
