Suicide, Depression, and Self-Harm Support and Resources

Please note that no one on this forum is a doctor, licensed professional, qualified or otherwise authorized to dispense medical or mental health advice. While we are sorry that you are going through a difficult time, and wish we could help, please understand that we are unable and are not authorized to do so. That being said, we hope that you will at least allow us to provide you with a list of places to where you can get the help and support you need.

While discussion of these thoughts and the feelings that lead up to them, are both encouraged and permitted, threats of suicide or self-harm are not allowed on this forum. This forum, while being a place where you can discuss various topics, is not an appropriate place to seek help in these matters and can be dangerous for all involved.

If you are suicidal, or are thinking of harming yourself, you should understand is that you are not alone and with support, and perseverance, things CAN get better. These thoughts and feelings are only temporary and they are just the voices associated with your illness. They are not real, and suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

The very first thing you should do is talk to your psychiatrist, therapist, and/or call 911, or whatever the emergency number happens to be in your country. You can also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or the Kristen Brooks Hope Center at 1-800-SUICIDE. You can also find suicide prevention services listed in the yellow pages.

Some threats require a visit to the emergency room, and so, while you are waiting for help to arrive, you should call a friend, relative or neighbor. If you are unable to find someone to sit with you, then you should check out the forum links below and talk to someone there until help has arrived.
